Saeon opens up on Wizkid collaboration

FAST-RISING singer, Saon, during the week, voiced out her position on her collaboration with Wizkid in her hit single, Boogie Down. It was alleged that Wizkid was paid to feature in the song to the tune of N1.5 million but since the release of the song, he had refused to promote it in any way. Earlier in the week, Saeon posted on her instagram page: “Folks, be like ‘I never charge artistes for features’ but I’m N1.5m short and I couldn’t even get a retweet.” That comment opened up a frenzy that saw both parties coming out to narrate their stories. Wizkid, in a chat with Net.Ng, said he usually charged N10 million and he and Saeon were not friends, but he had to collaborate with her because it took more than a month to get his attention. Wizkid Reveals Release Date Of His Collaboration Song With Chris Brown ‘African Bad Girl’ [Details]

In a chat with NET yesterday, Wednesday, October 15, the ‘Jaiye Jaiye’ singer who has recently been in the eye of the storm, with colleagues like Saeon and Samklef hitting him for his perceived attitudinal problems aside his widely reported beef with former friend-turned rival, Davido, said he has great moves ahead in a few weeks. ‘I have recorded a song with Chris Brown, it will be released in three weeks time and trust me, everything is so African.’ The singer, who now has his sights set on the global scene, will also be shooting the video for ‘Mummy mi’ with his mother which will drop soon. With wizkid, who is set to exit Empire Mates Entertainment, the label that nurtured him to fame, hinting at exploring avenues of a collaboration with American music star, Rihanna, 2015 is expected to be big year for the Star Boy boss.

  Pharrell Williams has definitely had one of the most successful years this 2014. The ‘Happy’ singer covers Ebony Magazine’s November 2014 issue where he talks honestly about his year, his successes and his controversies. You can watch the making of his cover here. Interestingly, the star also gushes about his love for Black women in response to the backlash he received a few weeks ago for not featuring a darker skinned female on the cover for his album  ‘G.I.R.L’ . He explains to the magazine, “I love Black women. If you don’t think I love Black women, then you don’t understand me. I have obsessed over Black women since the days of Jayne Kennedy, Beverly Peele and Roshumba Williams. Those are the women I daydreamed about growing up.”

Michael Jackson wins battle of the dead

Five years after his death, singer Michael Jackson is generating a fortune and is the top-earning dead celebrity, raking in an estimated US$140 million (NZ$176m) in the past year for his estate, Forbes magazine said. He earned more than twice as much as singer Elvis Presley, who died in 1977 and came in second with US$55 million, and three times more than cartoonist and Peanuts comic strip creator Charles Schulz, who took third place with $40 million. "Few celebrities prove the point that there is (financial) life after death better than Michael Jackson," said Forbes. It is Jackson's second straight year at the top of the list. He regained the title in 2013, a year after being pushed into second place by actress Elizabeth Taylor.
