Spain's opening World Cup match against Netherlands is probably the most awaited match of the Group Stages. The opening matches between the two is a replay of the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals, which Spain won 1-0. Spain, currently ranked No.1 in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola rankings, will be looking forward to retain the World Cup trophy. If Spain are able to do so, they will be the third team ever to retain the World Cup (Italy and Brazil are the only teams to successfully retain the World Cup).

  As the remains of foremost producer, writer, director and a leading player in the Nigerian motion picture industry, Amaka Igwe, are laid to rest today in Ndiuche Arondizuogu in Imo State, her marital home, hundreds of her colleagues are still pouring encomium and paying glowing tributes on her. At  a special Service of Songs/Tribute Night on Monday, 9 June at The Haven Events Centre, Ikeja GRA, Lagos, hundreds of personalities from government, media, music, business and Nollywood, gathered in honour of the Nollywood icon. The long wait for Wizkid’s second album has led to suggestions that the 23-year old music star is starting to doubt his own ability. Wizkid came into the Nigerian music industry when we didn’t have a wonder-kid, a boy- wonder or a whiz-kid. Fast forward 4 years after, the industry has been flooded with more talents that most cemetery cannot boast of.

  Been holding on to the news because I wanted to be 100% sure it's true...unfortunately it is. Our Branama queen is gone. Kefee Obareki Don Momoh passed away this morning June 13th at the US hospital where she was taken to after she collapsed and went into coma. She never came out of the coma. Her international manager Adeline has confirmed her passing and Kefee's husband also confirmed to a Star FM staff, where he works. What a sad day. May her soul rest in peace..Amen.

Released in 2011, Rihanna’s reggae revenge anthem had her singing furiously about ending a man’s life. The video stirred controversy when it featured the pop singer shooting a man in cold blood after he assaults her sexually. The US Parents Television Council (PTC) called for a ban of the video, condemning its unrepentant violent message.

The 2014 World cup began this evening June 12th with a colorful opening ceremony at the Arena de Sao Paulo in Brazil that reportedly cost around $4.5million to put together. International music stars, Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull were joined on stage by Brazilian pop-star Claudia Leitte to perform the official World Cup song 'We Are One (Ola Ola)'. The ceremony was followed by the opening match of the tournament - hosts Brazil vs Croatia. The match ended 3-1 in favour of Brazil. And what a match it was!

Chelsea are plotting a fresh move for Galatasaray wonder-kid Bruma, as Jose Mourinho sees him as having the required talent to thrive at Stamford Bridge. Victoria Ordu and Favour Amadi arrived at Regina International Airport Saturday night after leaving eight months ago. They were greeted by their friends and supporters who they say they are very thankful for.
