Emmanuel Okose, popularly known as Soul E, is currently in the centre of one of the biggest news coming out of the Nigerian music industry in the past few weeks, thanks to his new found power to see into the future.
Soul E sent shock waves around the industry when he said he had a vision of Wizkid and Davido in grave danger. In his Facebook post on Saturday, March 22, 2014, the singer turned prophet revealed that he saw, through a vision, Nigerian singer Wizkid being poisoned and another singer Davido in a fatal accident. ‘When God gives a vision he gives it so we are careful and pray; as I was sleeping the lord open my eyes and saw Wizkid being poisoned, he needs to be very careful and get close to God. I also saw Davido in a very fatal car accident. I stand a prophet and I cancel this. Finally I saw Aso Rock on fire, the president needs to have a 3-day fasting and praying for the nation. I’m not here to make any one afraid. If God reveals a vision he is ready to save,’ Soul E’s Facebook post read. In a phone chat with a NET Correspondent, the Delta-born singer turned prophet insists he had no bad intention with the prophesy. ‘God showed me something and I needed to warn the people involved. I do not pray or wish for such things to happen. God showed me that and I revealed in good faith,’ Soul E said. ‘You need to see a doctor. Don’t chat shit and attach the name of God to it. Prophet my ass,’ a Facebook user reacted to Soul E’s Facebook post. The sentiment of this Facebook user has been echoed by thousands of fans of the artistes mentioned in that prophecy. ‘I have received so many phone calls about the prophecy the Lord gave to me concerning Wizkid, Davido and Aso Rock. Some have said that I am seeking for attention and so many funny talks about me been a Prophet of God,’ Soul E said in another Facebook post. ‘I want to say that as a prophet of God I will deliver any message I receive from God. Many people did not believe my Master Jesus Christ when He was on earth and they called Him different names, that’s why I am not surprised at people calling me names too but one thing I am sure of is that I don’t speak when the Lord has not asked me to speak and I don’t speak when the Lord has not showed me.’ A deluge of hostile responses have trailed his prophecies but Prophet Soul E isn’t fazed. ‘It is normal for people to react the way they are reacting but just because we react like that does not mean I shouldn’t reveal what God has showed me. It was my God who instructed me to give the prophecy and I have done that. I am not wishing anybody anything bad.

All
they have to do is to pray. God doesn’t give you prophecy for you to be scared
but for you to be aware and pray about it,’ Soul told NET. Davido was also

danger. Many comments on social media platforms and in comment sections of news
blogs and website have accused the singer of being in need of publicity. Soul E
has dispelled those reports, insisting that he does not need the publicity. ‘I
am still Soul E and I don’t need to do this to get publicity. What do I need
publicity for? People should not make that mistake of thinking I’m doing this
for publicity sake. I just came to Lagos for a programme. I will be here till
Tuesday before heading to Port Harcourt. I am busy doing the works of my father
and what I love,’ Soul E said. Soul E also told NET that he is still a full
time musician and when he was asked how he combines being a pastor and a
musician, Soul E said he’s not a pastor. ‘I am not a pastor. I am an instrument
and vessel of God. I don’t have a church; my life is for the ministry. I have a
ministry called Kingdom Builders Assembly. I am fortunate to be part of the
people God wants to use to take His words to the next level. I am still going
to do music. I will push out a lot of gospel songs and love songs. I will be
releasing an album titled ‘Take Over’ very soon. Last year, I dropped an album
called ‘The Message’. I still go on tour; music still gives me money. Last year
we travelled to 8 African countries including Ghana, South Africa and Zimbabwe
and I also went to Australia. I have a 12-man band called the Soul Squad Band.
I am not a religious person, Christianity isn’t about religion, it is about
living right,’ he said. When asked when and how he got converted, Soul E
further explained that he was born into a Christian home and only lost his
calling when he came into the music industry in 2003. According to his profile
on Facebook, Soul E was born to an evangelist and has been involved with the
church since childhood. ‘I have been a prophet since I was born. There are so
many things people don’t know about me. I have always had a ministry since 2001
even when I was not a celebrity. I was the chapel prefect in my school and I
had a youth fellowship back then. I lost my calling in 2003 and 2004 and came
back in 2009. My life has been a story and I know God is taking me somewhere,’
he told NET. After splitting from his ex, Queen Ure, -he insisted they were
never married- and since getting married to his wife, Petula Delinda, the
singer has gone off the radar for a while. ‘I have been building myself. After
everything I have been through, I had to lay low and think about how my life. I
did that and I came out a better person,’ Soul E told NET Correspondent on the
phone. During his days as a secular music artiste Soul E collaborated with
Wizkid on a song called ‘Intoxicated’ but he has however insisted he is not
friend with the singer. Asked if he called or informed Wizkid or Davido of what
God has shown him concerning them. ‘They are not my friends and I don’t talk to
them. I am not saying they are my enemies. I had to go on Facebook to pass my
messages because I know they will get to hear about it, they have been warned,’
he said. NET reached out to Davido who is currently on tour in the United State
and Canada and his PR representative from Wildflower PR told NET the singer has
nothing to say about it. ‘He’s on tour now and he has no comment on that,’ they
said. All efforts to get reactions from Wizkid or his management team were
unsuccessful as calls to his manager Godwin Tom were not responded to. A slew
of other prophecies have also been directed at celebrities in the past month. A
Ghanaian Prophet, Samuel Baffour, earlier in the month revealed that two of
Ghana’s top actresses, Yvonne Nelson and Nadia Buari, and some other Ghanaian
entertainers like Samini, Obour, Lil’ Win might lose their lives. In Nigeria,
Primate Ayodele, the head of Inri Evangelical Spiritual Church, reportedly
shared his prophecies for 2014 where he warned Davido of an impending
kidnapping attempt and also told D’banj to be careful not to be defrauded over
a foreign business deal. Soul E has, however, advised the above mentioned
celebs not to be scared. ‘Prophecies are just warnings.
You
just have to be careful and pray to avoid them. When you hear prophesies
concerning you, you should be happy because to be forewarned is to be
forearmed,’ Soul E advised. Soul E is a Delta State-born singer and prophet. At
21, he burst into the Nigerian music scene, signing a record deal with Colossal
Entertainment, under which he released his first album Naija is blessed which
had his biggest hit single ‘Soule Baba Dey Here’. He has since then released
three other albums, His Excellency 1&2’ and his last album The Message.
