Chelsea star David Luiz agrees Barcelona deal
Chelsea star David Luiz has agreed a lucrative five-year contract with Barcelona ahead of a £32m summer move, reports the Daily Star.
Jose Mourinho is looking to make some major changes to his Chelsea team this summer with several big name players coming in and others going out.
While Chelsea move closer to agreeing deal with Atletico Madrid for Diego Costa, Luiz is already set to become the first big name to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
Mourinho is well aware that if he wants to afford the likes of Costa, he will have to generate the funds through player sales in order to keep Chelsea in line with financial fair play.
Unfortunately for Luiz, the priority is strengthening Chelsea's forward line, meaning the flair defender, who will travel to the World Cup with Brazil, was free to depart Chelsea if the right offer came in.
Barcelona have been tracking Luiz for a while and attempted to sign him from Chelsea last summer. Mourinho was still undecided on the 26-year-old, but he is now ready to let him go after Barcelona offered £32m.
Luiz has agreed in principle the terms of a five-year contract and will reportedly become a Barcelona player after the World Cup is finished.
It marks the start of what will be a busy summer at the Nou Camp as Barcelona attempt to usher in a fresh batch of talent and bring an end to an era that have seen the rise and fall of stars like Xavi and Carles Puyol.
