Arsenal & Manchester United offered Barcelona star Xavi
Representatives of Xavi Hernandez have contacted Premier
League clubs to offer them the chance to sign the Barcelona legend this
summer, reports the Daily Star.
At the tender age of 34, Xavi is looking for a lucrative move to finish off his career and has been linked with a transfer to the MLS with Barcelona seeking to move on some of their old guard.
However, according to the Daily Star, Xavi fancies testing himself out in the Premier League and has ordered his agent to gauge whether there is any interest from the top English clubs.
Arsenal and Manchester United are believed to be considering a move after being alerted to Xavi's availability but Manchester City are facing an uphill struggling.
The Barcelona legend is demanding £150,000-a-week, which City officials will baulk at as the drastically attempt to cut cost to comply with Uefa's Financial Fair Player regulations.
Xavi has two years left on his contract at Barcelona but the Catalans are willing to sell to usher in a new era at the Nou Camp. Signs this season have suggested a fresh beginning is required for Barcelona and moving on some old names is seen as vital to achieving that.
Manchester United are obviously in the hunt for experience this summer and are set to hand the managerial vacancy to veteran Louis van Gaal. An instant return to the top of the Premier League will require plenty of experienced heads at Old Trafford and Xavi is the epitome of that.
Meanwhile Xavi is thought to be an admirer of Arsene Wenger and Arsenal's style of play and would fit seamlessly into their midfield. However, Arsenal's strict wage structure may prevent the veteran from becoming a Gunner.
