Players of Dolphins FC and Sharks FC,
both of Port Harcourt, Rivers State on
Thursday launched another protest at
the Rivers State Government House to
press home the demand for their unpaid
sign-on-fees for two years.
The angry players have also threatened
to adopt other options, which includes
boycotting of the remaining Nigeria
Premier League matches.
Both teams have not trained since the
protest began.
“We want to be paid our two years sign-
on-fees as we have people that looks up
to us for survival,” said one of the
angry players.
The players also claimed that increment
in salaries, which was promised by the
State Government, is yet to be activated.
It will be recalled that the Deputy
Governor of the State, Engr. Tele Ikuru,
a fortnight ago addressed the players
and promised them that their complains
will table before the Governor, Rt. Hon.
Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
