Louis van Gaal sees Lucas Moura as a perfect replacement for Nani
Louis van Gaal views Lucas Moura as the ideal replacement for the underwhelming Nani at Manchester United, reports suggest.
This is according to The Daily Express, who evidently believe that the Portuguese winger - who first arrived at Old Trafford from Primeira Liga outfit Sporting Lisbon back in 2007 - could be set to depart the Premier League this summer with a potential move to Italy on the horizon.
Brazilian Lucas is a long-term target of Manchester United, but joined current employers Paris Saint-Germain in a big-money move last January.
His full debut campaign in European football at the Parc des Princes was somewhat disappointing, however, with Lucas - who will not be afforded the opportunity to star in a World Cup tournament on home soil after being left out of Luiz Felipe Scolari's final 23-man squad for this summer's tournament - often restricted to substitute appearances during an otherwise successful campaign under Laurent Blanc.
Manchester United are expected by fans, the media and pundits alike to make sizeable upgrades to several areas of their playing squad this summer, with senior Dutch boss Van Gaal clearly brought to the club to repair the damage inflicted by David Moyes' dismal 10-month reign.
Further departures are also expected alongside exciting new arrivals, and it seems somewhat doubtful that many Red Devils fans would be particularly distressed to see Nani finally leave after a frustrating spell in the North West.
The Portuguese international has showcased brief periods of quality over recent seasons, however he has abjectly failed to achieve any sort of consistency and must surely be a candidate for a swift exit now the strict figure of Van Gaal has taken the helm.
While Van Gaal appears to view 21-year-old Lucas as the perfect upgrade, it appears he may face a significant struggle to get his man with the player having appeared to re-affirm his commitment to PSG.
"I did not always play this season, but I've been in big games and I scored decisive goals. We won three titles and I consider myself to be fully involved [in the team].
