Alvaro Morata wants to join Arsenal or Manchester United
Real Madrid starlet Alvaro Morata has his heart set on a move to the Premier League and is desperate for Arsenal or Manchester United to offer him just that this summer, according to the Daily Star.
Morata is out of contract at the end of next season and first-team opportunities at the Bernabeu continue to look limited at the mo
ment, thanks to the potent attacking trio of Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.
Despite scoring eight goals in 23 La Liga appearances this season Morata wants more regular playing time to harness his talent, something he hopes United or the Gunners could provide.
Arsenal in particular have shown strong interest in the Spanish forward over the last 12 months, although Gunners boss Arsene Wenger eventually decided against making a loan offer during the January transfer window.
Wenger is desperate to find quality reinforcements in attack this summer though and Morata may fit the bill, able to provide genuine competition for Olivier Giroud as a lone central striker.
United are also thought to be monitoring Morata's situation closely as Madrid ponder whether to let the 21-year-old leave now or for nothing next summer, although the wishes of the player may take that out of their hands.
Madrid are likely to want a set buy-back clause in any deal that takes Morata away from the Bernabeu, protecting the Champions League winners against missing out on the forward's best years.
It's now up to Arsenal or United to approach Madrid with a reasonable offer for one of Europe's most promising young strikers, while Serie A kings Juventus also considering whether to add strength in depth to their forward line for next season's assault on Europe.
