Manchester United want to sign €60m Koke

Manchester United are keen to sign €60m Koke

Manchester United are not put off by Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke's €60m release clause and have offered the Spain international a €5m-a-season contract. The 22-year-old was recently linked with a move to Chelsea, but United appear to be pressing hardest to secure his signature this summer.
This information comes courtesy of Spanish newspaper El Confidential, who reiterate AS's claim that the Red Devils are also keen to sign Atletico centre-back Miranda. Reports on Wednesday claimed United had triggered the Brazilian's release clause with a €30m bid.

Koke, though, would cost the Premier League giants twice that fee. But United are prepared to pay big in order to land one of the best players in La Liga outside of Real Madrid and Barcelona, and a key component in Atletico's stunning campaign under Diego Simeone. No midfielder made more La Liga appearances this season for the recently-crowned Spanish champions than Koke, who scored five goals over the course of the season.
The tenacious midfielder also play a pivotal role in helping Atletico reach the final of the Champions League, playing a total of 57 games during the 2013/14 campaign.
However, in order to land the young midfielder, United would not only need to pay a relative fortune - they will also need to convince the player to come to Old Trafford. Koke wants to stay at the Vicente Calderon, while the fact United are unable to offer any European football - Champions League or Europa League - could also cost Louis van Gaal the services of one of the continent's most promising central midfielders.
The Dutch coach is also keen to sign Koke's midfield teammate Arda Turan, according to reports from Spain. The Turkey international would cost the Red Devils at least €40m.
